Academic Visit of Our Faculty to Germany
The faculty members and research assistants of our Department of Civil Procedure and Enforcement-Bankruptcy Law visited the city of Bonn, Germany, within the scope of the scientific research project titled "Two Countries with Different Views on Mandatory Pre-Suit Conciliation: Turkey and Germany (A Comparative Study on Problems, Trends, and Solutions)."
As part of this visit, a meeting was held at the Air Transportation Conciliation Board (Schlichtungsstelle Luftverkehr) operating under the Federal Office of Justice (Bundesamt für Justiz). During the meeting, which was attended by judges and conciliators from the Conciliation Board, information was shared about the Turkish-German University and the ongoing scientific research project. Additionally, discussions were held on the functioning of the conciliation mechanism and voluntary conciliation processes. The faculty members were also accompanied on this visit by Prof. Dr. Gössl from the University of Bonn, Director of the Institute for International Private Law and Comparative Law.
Subsequently, the Bonn Lawyers' Association (Bonner Anwaltverein) was visited, and a meeting was conducted with conciliators working at the Association’s Conciliation Board. This meeting, which proved to be highly productive for the project, provided insights into the application and efficiency of the mandatory conciliation mechanism in German law. Furthermore, the similarities and differences between this mechanism and the mandatory mediation system in Turkish law were discussed.
The meetings made meaningful contributions to the progress of the project.
