Nil Kaynak, Bachelor 2017, Legal Advisor at the Austrian Consulate General Istanbul

I am a former law student of the Turkish-German University and I am one of the first 7 students of this faculty. Due to this fact, I have been able to enjoy (so to speak) private lessons with the best and most renowned lecturers and professors. After graduating in 2017, I was first able to complete my traineeship at two of the most prestigious law firms in Istanbul and thus gained an insight into the working life of a lawyer.

After my successful admission to the bar, I applied to the Commercial Department of the Austrian Consulate General and was accepted as a legal advisor due to my good knowledge of Turkish as well as international law. My daily activities include international business cases, as well as commercial and tax law. We actively work on the economic relationship between Turkey and Austria and build a bridge between the two countries. In addition to providing legal services, I also have the opportunity to plan events where Turkish and Austrian companies come together to plan future projects. I am glad that TGU prepared me for exactly these topics and that I can apply my knowledge on a daily basis – even the Incoterms.

Looking back, I miss my time as a student at TGU, where I always had the opportunity to talk to lecturers and professors without barriers like at other universities. However, I am also happy that my studies have led to a job where I feel comfortable and enjoy working. Thus, TGU has supported my professional development and paved the way for my professional career.
